How long have you been in business in Nashville?

We have been in business in Nashville for a little under a year.

Matt Lloyd
Magic Apple Technology

What does your company or organization do best?

We specialize in Open Source software.  We work mainly with the Asterisk IP PBX, but work well with many different open standard software programs as well.  Everything form IP surveillance to web based services.

What is one interesting fact about your company?

We are a true bootstrapping company.  We run our business with less than $100 per month worth of overhead.

What new technology product or service are you the most excited about?

There are some great new technologies coming out everyday it seems.  The thing we talk about the most in our office is the fact that more of the established Telecom companies are offering SIP services.  This really helps our customers save a ton of money and adds so much more than standard phone and internet service can provide.

Who is the most interesting person you have ever met?

Since we have started this venture we have spoken with many of Nashville’s great business Entrepreneurs.  There are so many that have built great companies from nothing.  Guys like Kevin Tyner at Document Solutions Inc. and Jud Clift at ASE Technologies.  These guys were more than willing to talk with us and share all they could about starting and running a business.

Who’s New?

What brought you to Nashville?

A hidden gem of a company – PureSafety, a name you will hear a lot more of in the coming years. They offered me a position as their Chief Technology Officer.

What is your favorite venue to go to in Nashville?

The zoo since my 3 year old daughter has so much fun there.

What surprised you most about our city?

The number of hockey fans and a surprisingly wide variety of quality international cuisine.

Sameer Bhargava
Chief Technology Officer
PureSafety
How does the Technology Community here compare to where you lived previously?

There is a lot of talent in the city and a good work ethic. Nashville is also a good place to attract talent from the surrounding areas. It might be too early for me to comment on this, but I think the technology community has an opportunity to better organize and work together and the educational system could be more fine-tuned towards technical careers.

Do you have any recommendations for other technologists who are new to the area?

I encourage them to join and support the Nashville Technology Council and help organize ourselves for the future. There is no reason why Nashville cannot replicate the Research Triangle Park concept that has proved so successful (and resilient even in this economy) for the Raleigh-Durham, NC area.
