 Marketex CEO Russell Schneider is a recognized expert in enterprise storage architecture, data migration, data replication, disaster recovery, data center relocation and storage virtualization. Russell manages a team of experienced storage architects, engineers and planners who have designed and implemented storage solutions for over 200 of the Fortune 500 companies. Mainframe and distributed storage, tape or disk, this team of engineers and consultants can always be counted on to deliver cost-effective, high performance, easily managed storage solutions for diverse industries such as health care, property and casualty insurers and major public utilities.
Russell’s articles and interviews appear regularly in many industry publications including Computerworld and Computer Reseller News and he frequently addresses major users and user groups on storage issues. Over the last forty years, Mr. Schneider has managed storage consulting engagements with numerous large enterprise IT users and four leading disk storage manufacturers including IBM, Compaq/Digital, Sun/Encore and Storage Computer. His early published papers on disk storage architecture helped shape the industry as we know it today. Among his accomplishments are:
- ENGINEER. A systems engineering role early in his career with IBM, followed by IBM marketing positions.
- ENTREPRENEUR. Director of marketing for Bucode, the first manufacturer of IBM-compatible air-bearing mainframe tape systems. Participated in bringing the company public.
- VENTURE CAPITAL. Director of Marketing for Westinghouse subsidiary Computer Investors Group with responsibility to oversee high technology venture investments in storage products including the first plug-compatible IBM mainframe memory system and the first microcode based storage controller.
- PRODUCT MANAGEMENT. Product Planning Manager for Memorex Corporation followed by successive promotions to product manager for Memorex disk storage products and world-wide marketing manager for all Memorex equipment products, both OEM and end-user. Executive responsible for the development of the first plug-compatible IBM 3350 disk system for mainframe markets. Lead the turn-around of the Memorex disk business resulting in the company being re-listed on the NYSE.
- CEO. A founder of Marketex Computer Corporation in 1977, a leading independent storage engineering, implementation and architecture firm.
- BOARD MEMBER. Director of LightningWord Corporation and several other high-tech, venture-backed Silicon Valley startups. Director of Marketex Storage Systems, a separate IBM-partner which was dedicated to developing storage solutions around IBM technologies.
- INTERESTS. Mr. Schneider and his wife Maureen life in the Bay Area and have three children and six grandchildren. They enjoy boating, fresh and saltwater fishing and designing, building and flying large radio controlled aircraft.
- CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES. Mr. Schneider has been a board member, advisory board member and executive committee member of numerous charitable organizations in the Silicon Valley community.
