Nashville Technology Council Staff Bios

Liza Lowery Massey
President/CEO
In September 2011, Ms. Massey became the President and Chief
Executive Officer of the Nashville Technology Council. She joins
the NTC at a very exciting time, with member engagement and
workforce development dominating her agenda. Ms. Massey
brings her passion for top notch customer service and servant
leadership style to the Council. With a commitment to higher
education, Ms. Massey continues to serve as an Assistant Professor
for the University of Maryland, University College, where she teaches courses in information
systems management.
Prior to joining NTC, Ms. Massey founded and led The CIO Collaborative, a
management consulting firm serving the public sector. She also served as a Senior
Fellow with the Center for Digital Government. Ms. Massey is a former award-winning
Columnist for Public CIO Magazine and served as an adjunct professor in the Executive
MBA program at University of Nevada, Las Vegas from 2005 – 2010. During this time,
Ms. Massey was appointed to the Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government –
Leadership for a Networked World Research Group.
During her public sector career, Ms. Massey served as an IT executive for the City
of Los Angeles, where in 2004, she was recognized by Government Technology in
the Top 25 Doers, Dreamers & Drivers of Public Sector Innovation. Prior to that,
Ms. Massey served as San Francisco’s Executive Director of the Department of
Telecommunications & Information Services. Under her direction, the Department took
a leadership role in improving government services through technology initiatives. As a
result, San Francisco was listed in Civic.com’s Civic 50 Winners for using “technology
— and the Internet in particular — to improve the way government does business.”
Ms. Massey and her husband, Rod, a software executive, have 4 children and reside in
Franklin.

Leah Magee
VP, Business Development
Leah Magee joined The Nashville Technology Council March 1, 2010
as Vice President of Business Development. Leah is responsible for new
sponsorships, renewal of sponsorships, membership, event sponsorship,
and product sales.
Leah brings to the Nashville Technology Council over ten years of experience
in sales, sales management, marketing, business development, and fundraising. As a seasoned sales
professional with a focus on practical business application of technology, Leah has delivered solutions,
business negotiation, team leadership, and commitment to a variety of IT and healthcare technology
companies in Nashville.
Leah’s commitment to success and her willingness to build from the ground up has lead her from
startups to business support roles and even to her own entrepreneurial efforts — a variety of experience
that helps her better serve the Nashville technology community. Prior to joining the Nashville Technology
Council Leah served as Sales Manager for web-based benefits education startup Fontis Healthcare.
Additionally, Leah has been a critical part of teams at Sprint PCS, The Nashville Area Chamber of
Commerce, Programming Resources, and LBMC Technologies. Recently, she forged her own
entrepreneurial venture with Bella Concreti.
Leah is a Nashville native, and attended Aquinas College and Belmont University. She is a member of
the Young Leaders Council and currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Amun Ra Theatre where
she helps lead citywide fundraising efforts, as well as a building fund initiative with which she helped
organize a National “Make a Difference Day” event. Leah enjoys spending time with her two daughters
and volunteering in the Nashville community.
Mollie McCormick
Event and Office Coordinator

Mollie McCormick joined the NTC in July 2010 as the Event and Office
Coordinator. She is responsible for planning and implementing all event
logistics, running the event and office functions, participates
and plans new initiatives, and makes sure we pay and get paid on time.
Mollie has over five years of work and volunteer experience in managing event and office operations.
She graduated from Belmont University with a major in Mass Communications and a minor in
Journalism. She completed several internships at radio stations, and came to the NTC from Vanderbilt
University where she worked in alumni relations. She has been able to grow her organizational, social,
business, and marketing skills in a relatively short amount of time given the nature of her jobs. She
enjoys having a job where she is challenged, allowed to be creative, and puts her in front of some truly
amazing people in the community. Cohabitating with the Entrepreneur Center has also exposed her to
the world of startups, and likes learning more and volunteering her time towards those efforts.
As an avid lover of food and animals, Mollie is a vegan baker and will more than likely be delighted if you
ask her to make you something. She enjoys being outdoors, cooking, yoga, spending time with friends,
and hanging out with her adorable pup, Anakin.
Jessica Hill
Graphic Designer and Marketing Coordinator
Jessica is a painter, illustrator and graphic designer who is from New York. She
attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where she graduated with
a BFA in Graphic Design. While in school, she did her internship for a skateboard
company located in the now well known gallery, Space 1026. Working with a variety
of talented artists was an experience that shaped her as she moved forward in
her career. Once out of college, she moved back to New York and began working in the Marketing Department
at Town Sports International who run the NYSC chain of gyms.
She’s been able to refine her skills over the years, working for various clients in all a wide range of fields.
As an artist and designer, she enjoys having a job that provides creative freedom as well as challenges.
Before joining the Nashville Technology Council, she was doing Environmental Graphic Design at
Gresham Smith and Partners. In addition, she did freelance work various clients such as The Brown
Center for Autism, Advocate Marketing and Print and Community Food Advocates.
As a freelance painter and illustrator, she has a flair for creating crisp, clean designs and colorful
paintings featuring creatures of every shape and description. She has designed t-shirts for Hot Topic,
shirt.woot and more. She was also asked to provide Character Development sketches to Nick Jr., and
her work was recently featured on the Sharpie Markers blog. In her free time, she likes to paint and
relax with her husband, David and doggie at home.
