1. Access: Secured two partners, Intel and RCG, to continue the Downtown WiFi, which provides
free access from the River Front to Bridgestone Arena and supports the CMA Awards and Music Fest.
2. Acknowledgement: The “Feel the Beat” Technology Awards Gala, sponsored by XO Communications,
recognized individuals and companies whose successes are helping grow Middle Tennessee into a nationally
recognized hub for technology and innovation.
3. Education: Awarded two college scholarships to students pursuing tech related degrees through The
Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and, in partnership with HP, awarded one scholarship to NTC’s
IT Student of the Year.
4. Green: Going green by printing less and distributing our material via digital means, with partners such
as NWN, who is sponsoring distribution of material via memory sticks. Our magazine, Catalyst, is
now available as a digital publication.
5. Networking: Started the rapidly growing “Coffee is for Closers” Peer Network for Sales and Business
Development Professional in the technology industry. The network meets to provide education,
professional development, and peer-to-peer networking for participants.
6. Outreach: Programs like FirstCamp, Technology Nashville, and others bring the message to students
and the community at large that technology careers are interesting and important.
7. Partnerships: NTC signed its second diamond sponsor, Comcast Business Class, whose contributions
fund important programs and initiatives.
8. Programs: Hosted, partnered and sponsored over 20 events and programs in 2011, providing
education, professional development, and networking opportunities.
9. Sustainability: Launched effort to streamline operations and ensure that the organization provides
maximum return on investment to members through sustainable programs and initiatives.
10. Workforce: Through our IT Workforce Education initiative, supported establishment of additional
Advisory Boards in two and four year degree granting institutions. Boards consist of university and
business leaders, with goals of ensuring that the curriculum is relevant to workforce needs, increasing
the pipeline of students, and improving retention of tech graduates in Middle Tennessee.
