Nashville Tech Story (1/13/10)
Dell announced its splash into the Smart Phone space at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, with its partnership with AT&T. A release date for AT&T users has not been confirmed. Dell is not only hitting the American market, but reaching worldwide by picking up carriers China Mobile and Claro in Brazil.
According to Dell, nearly 90 percent of consumers say they would consider purchasing a smart phone from a highly regarded technology company as an alternative to leading smart phone manufacturers. Dell’s new Android-based smart phone, seems extremely similar to Verizon’s DROID, which was just released in November 2009. It will have multiple customization features, and applications for all of your favorite social media outlets. The final product design is not complete yet, but a concept image, which is pictured left, seems to be a sleek, touch screen smart phone. More details of the phone’s features will be announced closer to the availability date, which is expected to be during the first half of the year.
