Just a reminder to all that the Nashville Technology Council and Nashville Entrepreneur Center will be closed this Thursday and Friday so that our staff can celebrate Christmas. We will be back next week…and with some big news about our January Membership Breakfast! Happy Holidays to all of you from the Nashville Technology Council.
Last week we announced that our annual Membership Breakfast will be held on January 18th, 2011, in the Boone Building at Trevecca University. If you are unfamiliar with this event, we gather representatives from our over 400 member companies in one room to discuss what’s coming up in the year ahead at the NTC and hear from nationally recognized business leaders in technology about their thoughts on innovation, business and leadership.
If you recall, last year we welcomed Abbie Lundberg and keynote speaker Steve Ballmer to a sold out crowd. Who is next? We’ll be announcing two nationally recognized leaders in technology very soon. Register today to get your seat up front!
As always, this event is for members only. If you are not an NTC member and are interested in learning more about how you can join us and help our technology community succeed, there is a special incentive for you this month. Through the month of December, we are offering new members 15% off their first year dues! If you or a company you know has been interested in joining the NTC, but just haven’t made the move, now is the time!
It has truly been an amazing year, filled with growth and gratitude, and we look forward to sharing our continued vision for a better, brighter planet and Nashville with all of you in January!
The students at last week’s Membership Breakfast certainly had a great time, and even got a laugh or two out of Steve Ballmer. One gutsy student asked Ballmer to sign his MacBook Pro, and even caught it all on camera. Ballmer showed his sense of humor by writing, “Need a new one?” next to his signature.
Naturally, this video has gone viral, producing over 300,000 views in less than a week. This goes to show, Nashville students certainly know the value of marketing and social media.
In case you missed yesterday’s Membership Breakfast with Steve Ballmer, Trevecca Nazarene University was nice enough to share some of their photos with us. Check out a slide show of event photos below:
The Nashville Technology Council Staff could not be more excited about the amazing turnout of over 800 technology professionals today at our Second Annual Membership Breakfast, sponsored by ComFrame Software Corporation. This marked the largest Tech Council event ever, and the crowd was full of energy and anticipation to hear what Microsoft’s CEO, Steve Ballmer, might throw at them. Innovation was a key topic this morning, as Ballmer discussed Microsoft’s investments of over $9.5 Billion on R&D this year. Ballmer also noted, one key factor many individuals forget in innovation is patience. In addition, the audience also got a preview of the new version of x box 360, which has voice recognition technology among other advanced qualities.
Ballmer’s trip to Nashville, has certainly created a great deal of buzz from Nashville Technology Council Members. See what participants had to say below:
devinmcc Good presentation this morning by Steve Ballmer (@Microsoft) at the @nashtechcouncil membership breakfast. More than 800 people there…

BE HELPFUL. That is the mission statement at teknetex. It is how we add value to the companies that allow us to serve them and to the professionals who trust us with their careers.
We understand that businesses are looking for a talent acquisition partner who does more than just matches acronyms on resumes to job requirements. Our clients need a talent acquisition partner who understands their business, and, as a result, can provide them with the unique and customized solutions they demand.
For us to be successful, it is critical that we learn about our client’s corporate structure, their products, their history, and their future. After all, the human capital solutions we provide will be a part of that history, and we have to get it right. It is not merely an exercise in resume volume to see what sticks, but rather a precisely targeted human capital solution that directly impacts our clients’ business.
Success also means that we understand all we can about the professionals who trust us with their careers. Beyond the requisite functional and technical aptitude, we always know what our candidates want to do – not just what they can do. This can occasionally be a fine line, but it is always a clear line – one that sets us apart. teknetex is about people. The right fit, the first time.
